UPDATE ON THE FIRE AT THE PRINCETON BLVD. STATION
On Sunday, December 23, at 20:10 hours, a fire occurred at the Oak Valley Fire Company, also known as the Princeton Blvd. Station. The fire was contained to the members' recreation room, which sustained heavy damage. Anticipating the worst, a second alarm was struck but fortunately those companies were not needed. Due to the quick action of the first arriving members, all of the fire apparatus as well as the turnout gear, was removed from the station with minor damage. The company is still operating from it's building located at 595 Princeton Blvd. with no impact on the delivery of fire protection to the residents of Oak Valley and surrounding areas. We would like to thank all of the companies that responded to assist us in our time of need, as well as those who have called, written and e-mailed offering any assistance that we may need. The members of the Oak Valley Fire Company are already in the process of putting their station back together. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Stephen M. Hubbs Chief. |

"The best defensive line is not in the NFL. It's the DEPTFORD FIRE DEPARTMENT" This painting was done by a family member of the Hanifin Family after the fire in their house (146 Betsy Ross Way) on August 16th, 2007. I always hate to meet people when bad things happen, but I'm glad that we were able to assist the family in their time of need. I'm also proud of the members who worked as a team at this incident and helped make the best out of a bad situation. S.M. Hubbs

Deptford Twp. Achieves an ISO Rating of "3". After an extensive survey by the Insurance Services Office (ISO), the people who rate your structural fire suppression delivery system, Deptford Township was awarded the Public Protection Classification of "3". What does a "3" mean? The ISO rating system ranges from a "1" (exemplary fire protection) to a "10" (does not meet minimum criteria"). Only 3.4% of the towns in THE COUNTRY achieve a "3" or better! Prior to this evaluation, Deptford Township was previously rated as a "5". While the homeowner may only see a very small improvement in their fire insurance rates, the real payoff comes to commercial property. You see, if we have a "3" and a nearby town has a lower rating, the possibility of lower fire insurance premiums may entice a business to locate in Deptford Township, thereby increasing our rateables and helping to lower our tax rates. We just can't rest on our laurels with this new rating, though. We were provided with an inprovement statement that listed items that we can work on to improve our rating even more. We will be working with all parts of our community to get our ISO rating as high as we can afford for the benefit of our community. |
