The Deptford Township Board of Fire Commissioners was established by ordinance by the Deptford Township Council on October 25, 1965. The ordinance states, "All lands lying and being within the corporate boundary lines of the Township of Deptford be and the same are hereby established and designated as the Fire District of Deptford Township". Five Fire Commissioners are elected by the public to serve staggered 3-year terms. During their tenure on the Board, Commissioners are "...responsible for the administration of said Fire District pursuant to the provisions of the statues of the State of New Jersey in such case made and provided". The Fire District maintains its offices at the Fire Administration Building at 1370 Delsea Drive. The Administrative Offices, the Office of the Chief of Department, and the Bureau of Fire Prevention / Fire Marshal's Office are at this location. The Board of Fire Commissioners meets publicly on the first Wednesday night of each month at 7 p.m. at the Fire Administration Building. Work sessions are also held at the Fire Administration Building on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Current Administration |
