Mayor Paul Medany’s January Message
2012
Welcome to the New Year and to our January message. We just received our residential tax revaluation information and the commercial properties will soon follow. The next step is a review by our tax assessor then we should have results out by the end of January.
Here are some of the goals we are working on this year. We are working everyday to get a tenant into the old Pathmark site. Our business district is doing well, but we still need to fill some of the empty stores. Other projects we are working on are a left turn lane at Rt. 47 and Turkey Hill Road, paving roads, improving our park and a bike path.
This year is another critical year for holding the line on spending and keeping taxes stable while maintaining services.
Make a resolution this year to get involved in the community. Our youth organizations always need volunteers. Join or form a neighborhood watch, our police are there to assist with this. Walk your neighborhood and form a litter patrol. Join a civic organization, come out to one of our events, read the website, vote in the upcoming fire election. The world has changed and it’s time to ask what you expect from your Local, County, State and Federal Governments. Contact your legislators and tell them what you think. Read pending legislation and see how it affects you and your community. Not everyone can or wants to be an elected official but there are many ways to stay informed and get involved. We are looking forward to the New Year with continued optimism and hard work.
Enjoy the winter season.
