The Township Clerk's Office has the following responsibilities:

Secretary to the Township Council - the Clerk's Office maintains custody of all minutes, deeds, bonds, contracts and archival records of the Township of Deptford.

Secretary to the Governing Body - the Clerk's Office prepares agendas for all public meetings of Mayor and Council; keeps official records of the meetings and retains all Resolutions, Ordinances and Minutes.  This office also administers and records oaths, maintains custody of official documents, acts as liaison to the public and correspondent on behalf of the Township Council.

The Township Clerk is responsible by law to enforce State Election forms pursuant to N.J.S.A.  The Township Clerk is also responsible for certifying vacancies at the local level, maintaining receipt of nominating petitions and certification to the County Clerk of local candidates nominated by petition, furnishing material for local elections and maintaining receipt of election results.

The Township Clerk is the Chief Registrar of Voters.  Residents can obtain
Voter Registration Forms and Vote By Mail Ballot from this office or by clicking on the form that you need. 

REQUIREMENTS

•Must be 18 years of age and a citizen of the United States.

•Registration of new voters is required prior to the 28th day preceding the Election.

•The Primary Election is held the 1st Tuesday following the 1st Monday in June.

•The General Election is held the 1st Tuesday following the 1st Monday in November.

LICENSES & PERMITS

The Clerk is the Administrative Officer which requires the acceptance and issuance of the following licenses and permits:

•Raffles, Bingo, Carnival - you may download a Bingo Application, Raffle Application, Amendment to Bingo & Raffle Application, Sample Ticket (off premises merchandise) and a Sample Ticket (off premises awarding cash) form here or forms may also be obtained in the Township Clerk's Office.

•Liquor License

•Block Parties - you may download a
Block Party Application here along with the Block Party Ordinance explaining the rules and regulations for holding a Block Party or you may also obtain these forms in the Township Clerk's Office.

•Meeting Rooms - Deptford Township encourages community use of Township Meeting rooms providing such use does not interfere with the programs and functions of the Township.  The meeting room is available for use by the community for any public function of an educational, cultural, intellectual or charitable nature.  You may download the Meeting Room Policy and Application here explaining the rules and regulations for use of such room or you may also obtain these forms in the Township Clerk's Office.

•Landlord Registration - according to the State Law N.J.S.A. 46:8-28 - a landlord in New Jersey must register with the Township Clerk for eviction purposes.  Landlord registration forms are to be completed and filed in the Township Clerk's Office.  If the registration forms are not filed with the Clerk, a landlord can be fined up to $500.00.  Forms may be obtained in the Township Clerk's Office or by downloading one

The Clerk's Office in conjunction with the Tax Assessor and Tax Collector issues Assessment Search Certificates and serves as information officer to the public.

This office is the Records Coordinator and Manager which implements, manages and maintains local archives and records retention programs as mandated by State Law.
