Mayor's Monthly Message - March 2024

The first day of spring is right around the corner, March 19th. This month Council will be finalizing our budget process. We printed a budget explanation in our newsletter and if you look at your tax bill you can see the breakdown as to where your property tax dollars go. The highest percentage goes to supporting the School District, which averages over 50% of your tax dollars. Our local Municipal Budget supports all Township services, including Police Department, Waste Disposal, Recreation, Leaf Pickup, salaries and so much more.

This past year Council did not have a local increase and we always look for ways to save every tax dollar. Within our budget we will be doing extensive infrastructure work, purchasing new equipment, renovating office space, and purchasing open space, all while improving services and keeping the local tax stable.

There will be several exciting business openings this month. The Chick-Fil-A renovations are completed and they ae now open. Raising Cane will open in March. The great new Inspira Medical Center will open soon. The Deptford Mall is our business center and we urge you to shop at our local businesses instead of online. These businesses provide thousands of jobs and a solid local tax base.

Please learn about recycling, what to not put in your recycling container. This is so important not only for the environment, but it saves tax dollars by doing it correctly. Also, think about mulching grass clippings, which is environmentally friendly when done correctly instead of disposal, which is a big cost for us.

Outdoor events are starting this month. We will see you soon!
