Fall 2023 - Hydrant Flushing Program
Starting in October the Authority will begin its hydrant-flushing program to improve the water quality in the distribution mains. This program allows for the turnover of water in the mains and provides the opportunity to check the operating status of the water system under heavy demand conditions and to ensure all hydrants are working properly in the event of an emergency.
While hydrants are opened in your area, the water may be temporarily discolored and pressure will be lower than normal. We encourage you to limit the use of water, and not to use water for washing clothes and cooking during the hours when hydrant flushing is scheduled. It is also recommended that you run your water for a short period of time the next morning prior to consumption or use.
